HMI / User Interface Design
BMW Concept Coupe
Project Overview

The BMW Concept Coupe was shown to the public at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This concept vehicle marked an intermediate step between the first BMW Vision i3 shown a year earlier and the production i3 that we see on the roads today as noticed in a 'hybrid' UI between the vision project and the production vehicle interface design.

Building on work done during the BMW Vision user interface project, we concentrated the interface design efforts on illustrating the battery range and a typical drive cycle shown in the video below. Further, we also explored the use of some 3D for assistance in illustrating the idea of 'folding' information. Finally, the interface explores the idea of using connectivity by pulling down destination data such as user recommends when tied into navigation function. This video was the first peek into a more production ready interface for the 'i' vehicles.
